Muong On Cave is 35 KM east of Chiang Mai and will be our first destination. It costs ฿20 to enter. Get ready to crouch as you make your way down the steep staircase before the cave opens up into a vast, soundless room filled with shrines including a 30 ft Buddha. On the way to the entrance of the cave, we will climb Naga Serpant Stairway. This is a 180 step climb with spectacular views.

After Muong On Cave we will continue another 5 KM to Sam Kamphaeng Hot Springs. This is a high-sulfur natural hot spring bubbling out of the earth at 212 degrees Farenhiet! The water winds through a man made foot bathing stream and is deposited in a large pool where we can swim. After, we can wander the gardens and take in the sights before making the 40 KM bike ride back home to Chiang Mai.

This meet up is intended for experienced bike riders. Last year it took us about 2.5 hours to get to the area where the caves and hot springs and the same amount of time to return. To ensure we return before dark, we will leave the hot springs at 3pm. We will make a stop at a fruit vendor along the way and there is also food and water for purchase at Sam Kamphaeng Hot Springs. Please pack accordingly! Bring water, food, sunscreen, a hat, tire tube, patch kit, and bike repair kit.

Don’t want to ride? Be sure to confirm your place in the tsongtoa with the FWF admin team for the day’s full excursion.
